I Can Build a Christmas Tree

The purpose of this project is to get every child to come together and enjoy building their Christmas project like a family. Parents participated by donating cans to the school as a support to their precious ones.

The process
that leads to the building of Christmas tree was a breeze for these children as they love watching their Christmas Trees at home, on the street, from books and TV programmes. The little ones contributed their little part with their little hands by painting the cans together. And we have the 5 and 6 year olds helping to paint the cans too. They also contributed in the decorations of the trees with cut outs ribbons, doves, hearts and stars.

The challenges that these children faced were the stacking up of the cans as they have to go through a process of cans dropping down, glue dripping everywhere. The teacher assisted the children by setting up a scaffold structure so as to help support the cans together and save these children from endless frustration.
And lest not forget the technique of not dripping glue everywhere but by draining the glue carefully.

The finale of the tree was wonderful as children love putting up glitters and decoration, playing their part towards their creative tree they made themselves, together in joy and harmony. Good job children!

I Can Build a Christmas Tree

These little ones were getting their hands all squishy and green as they know is the time of the year that sings "jingle bells jingle bells...jingle all the way..." Thank you mummies and daddies for downing all the "pepsi, juices, 100plus and beers!" Children were sharing how their parents were trying to drink up as many cans as they possibly could.

Prints, prints and more prints....

Children from as young as 18 months to 3 1/2 years old were having a sensational time exploring textures, colors and tools at D' Atelier. Prints, marks and splotches were what they have created as their artistic expression, most of them for the first time. Children adore the vibrancy of colors and prints they see, the feeling of cold, wet paints that they touch with their little fingers, the squishy sound they hear from rubbing those sticky paints together with their bare little hands, and the smell of yummy hand soaps they got to clean themselves with. And not to forget the spongy marshmallows they get to pop in their mouth at the end of a fruitful day....what great 'senses' of enjoyment these little young ones are experiencing. There is no doubt these little ones never wish to stop going to D' Atelier.

Concepts of Patterns

Children were learning the concept on 'patterns' and how everyday objects are associated with patterns. These children are age from 4 to 6 years old. They uses different lines, shapes or images to construct patterns, applying their ideas into various forms.

Children began to spot the patterns around D'Atelier, from the plants to the uniforms and t-shirts their friends were wearing. Follow up, they began to design patterns on dresses and shirts on the paper. Some managed to create patterns with colors and materials too!

A Love for D' Atelier...

Atelier has been a dwelling place for children to dive deep into their dreams. Children are expressively passionate about their work, describing their imaginations that are close to their hearts.

In this picture, Tiril, Shannon, Genevieve and Caiomhe were discussing what they love to draw on this big canvass that is going to be hung as a picture frame at D’ Atelier. Tiril says, “ Let’s have two butterflies!” Shannon says, “ And what about flowers?” "And lets have some heart shapes too!" exclaimed Caiomhe. " I like pink, pink is my favourite color..!" added Genevieve.
